Tatmadaw’s statement on Britain’s sending back of Myanmar officer trainees

Nay Pyi Taw September 20

The Tatmadaw is putting forth continuous efforts to maintain friendly cooperation with neighbouring countries and regional countries as well as international armed forces in today’s multi-party democracy period. Five officer trainees from Myanmar’s Tatmadaw had been attending courses in Britain under the programme to promote relations and cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries. However, those offi cer trainees were forced to return their motherland according
to the offi cial request of Britain’s members of parliament to suspend training courses on account of current situation in Rakhine State.

The offi cer trainees gathered at the office of the Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) in London on 20 September 2017. The Tatmadaw will bring them back to Myanmar as quickly as possible, issuing the statement that
no trainees, including those who have been granted to send Britain under previous agreements, will be sent to Britain anymore.
