Military operations halted as stated in peace statement; reported clashes near Shwehmaw Village in Kutkai Township incorrect

Nay Pyi Taw December 25

As the Tatmadaw strives for lasting peace, it has announced a halt to military operations in the areas of Northern Command, North-East Command, Eastern Command, Central East Command and Triangle Region Command from 21 December 2018 to 30 April 2019.

However, RFA, The Voice, Marnagar News Journal, The Ladies, Mizzima, The Irrawaddy and Khit Thit Media reported news about fighting between TNLA and Myanmar military in Kutkai Township by quoting news sources released in social media by the news and information department of PSLF/TNLA on 24 December 2018.
The TNLA news release and the re-reporting of some media outlets are incorrect and no fighting occurred between Tatmadaw columns and TNLA near Shwehmaw Village, Kutkai Township. Therefore, it might be a destructive act of those who do not really want peace in the process of achieving eternal peace through ceasefire and the instigator organizations attempting to disrupt the peace process. The Tatmadaw is committed to taking its firm stand, according to the statement released on 21 December 2018.
