Successful ceremony of seventh communal ordination and novitiation of families of C-in-C Office (Army, Navy and Air) takes place

Under Myanmar’s Buddhist cultural traditions, different kinds of good deeds are performed on the occasion of the Myanmar New Year. The ordination and novitiation ceremony is also held and it is a magnanimous good deed. Families of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services hold the communal ordination and novitiation ceremony every year. The successful holding of the seventh communal ordination and novitiation ceremony took place at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) this morning.
At the outset, the wife of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) and wife and the congregation offered alms to 18 invited monks, 290 temporary monks and temporary novices led by Abhidaja Maha Rattha Guru Maha Wizitaryon Kyaungtaik Sayadaw in the front site of Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
Then, day meal was offered to members of Sangha, temporary monks and novices. After the day meal offering, families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) donated alms to the temporary monks and novices.
Afterwards, the successful ceremony of ordination and novitiation followed. It was attended by State Ovaracaria Presiding Sayadaw of Maha Wizitaryon Monastery Abhidaja Maha Rattha Guru Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhama Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Visareinda Vibamsa and members of Sangha, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union Minister Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife, Union Minister Lt-Gen Sein Win and wife, Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers and their wives, officers and other ranks and families.
After that the congregation received Nine Precepts from the abbot of Kan-U Monastery and members of Sangha preached Mitta Paritta on the occasion. Next, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing offered alms to the abbot of Wizitaryon Monastery, and Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife to Bhaddanta Vimalaboati Pali Sayadawgyi.
The Union Ministers and wives and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief offered alms to members of Sangha respectively. The abbot of Mingalar Zayyone Pali Monastery preached a sermon and shared merits gained and the ceremony successfully came to an end.
To mark the successful holding of the seventh communal ordination and novitiation ceremony of the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, the performance of the rituals of gold and silver showers was held. Today’s ceremony is the seventh communal ordination and novitiation one which more than Ks-89 million were donated. There were 1,683 temporary monks and 306 temporary novices totaling 1,989 from the first to seventh ceremony.
