Tatmadaw is strengthening its defence prowess as it will win the majority’s respect only if its defence prowess is strong. All Tatmadaw members must have the awareness of the defence outlook to protect against acts to destroy Tatmadaw’s national political role and its patriotism, to save democracy from derailing due to mismanagement amidst the political instability, and to maintain the defence prowess. In addition to building the defence prowess, it must be strengthered and sharpened through training sessions, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with officers and other ranks at Pyinbongyi Station this morning.
Also present were Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Lt-Gen Myo Zaw Thein from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior military officers, the commander of Yangon Command, the commander of Southern Command and officers and other ranks of the station.
In his speech, the Senior General said, resettlement for Tatmadaw members who sacrificed lives and limbs for the nation and the people is being implemented without fail. The existing spirit of the Tatmadaw members to defend the nation must be first, strengthened in building the national defence prowess.
As the Tatmadaw members are daringly serving the national defence duties. An anxiety-free life for them is ensured. Tatmadaw mem-bers should strike a balance between income and expense, and wisely and systematically spend their money. They should stay away from the habit of consuming alcohol, tobacco and betel quid which increase the expense and are hazardous to health.
Discipline is the backbone of the Tatmadaw, which has to abide by the issued rules and procedures. The Tatmadaw is carrying out development task and serving the public interest, apart from national defence. Undisciplined organizations are not beneficial to the country. All the actions and the way of dressing of the Tatmadaw must be within the framework of the rules. The Tatmadaw must have individual and troop-wise discipline, must strive to become the discipline-observing Tatmadaw and for the emergence of the organizations and the country that observe the discipline.
Everyone wants to improve their life. So it is necessary to avoid the behaviours that can harm their lives and alcohol, keep self-value, follow the prescribed rules and orders and perform duties conscientiously. They must always read books and publications that can improve their life. Libraries with necessary fiction and non-fiction books have been established at respective military units and headquarters. The things that cannot be known outside will be learnt from those books. By maintaining self-value, they can improve themselves, their own unit and then the whole Tatmadaw. Therefore, all are urged to work in the interest of individuals and the whole Tatmadaw so that they become a Tatmadaw on whom the people can rely, said the Senior General.
Next, the Senior General presented fiction and non-fiction books to the officers and other ranks from the station through an official. Then, Admiral Tin Aung San presented food and Lt-Gen Hsan Oo from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) sport equipment and food to respective officials.
Later at the meeting hall of the local battalion, an official reported on agricultural and livestock breeding tasks, production and distribution of crops and seeds and welfare of Tatmadaw families. The Senior General gave necessary instructions and fulfilled the needs. The Senior General and party viewed the breeding of layers under air-conditioning system, breeding of dairy cows and DYL pigs. He then gave instructions on systematic measures for getting parental line of DYL pigs and efforts for successful implementation of agricultural and livestock breeding tasks in view of better future.
