Notification on effectively engaging in peace talks without delay for eternal peace during ceasefire period
14th Full Moon Day of Wagaung, 1381 ME
(14 August 2019)
1. With the aim of correctly pursuing democracy aspired by the entire people, ensuring national development and improving socio-economy of the people, the Tatmadaw, out of genuine goodwill, stopped its military operations in Northern Command, North-East Command, Eastern Command, Central East Command and Triangle Region Command three times from 21 December 2018 to 30 April 2019, from 1 May to 30 June 2019 and from 1 July to 31 August 2019, paving the way for the ethnic armed organizations to engage in peace talks without being forced or pressured.
2. There is weakness in the efforts for the development of the peace process including the process of finding a solution through dialogues during the times all military activities are suspended, and the extended term of ceasefire is going to end soon.
3. In this regard, all the stakeholders, whether they are individuals or organizations, must have total trust in holding serious talks with National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) and Negotiation Team formed by Tatmadaw, taking into account the interest of the State and the entire national people, while staying away from applying any time-wasting tactics during the ceasefire term allowed by the Tatmadaw.
