Vice-Senior General Soe Win receives welcome from Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army, calls on Chief of Defence Force of Royal Thai Armed Forces

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief(Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, currently in Thailand on a goodwill visit, arrived at the Office of the Chief of Defence Force of Royal Thai Armed Forces, signed the visitors' book and called on Chief of Defence Force of Royal Thai Armed Forces General Ponpipaat Benyasri on 13 November morning.

Also present at the call together with the Vice-Senior General were senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army), Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air)Brig-Gen Khin Zaw and officials.Cordial views were exchanged on continued maintenance of the bilateral relations, exchange of trainees, anti-narcotic measures and Myanmar's peace process,and emblems and gifts were exchanged Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army General Apirat Kongsompong gave a guard-of-honour welcome to Vice Senior General Soe Win in the afternoon.

At the welcoming ceremony,the Vice-Senior General was accompanied by senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army)and Myanmar Military Attaché(Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Khin Zaw. The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army was accompanied by senior military officers from the Royal Thai Armed Forces.

Vice-Senior General Soe Win took the salute of the Guard of Honour. The Vice-Senior General and the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army inspected the Guard of Honour and they made bilateral introduction of senior military officers from both countries. The Vice-Senior General viewed the commemorative museum of the His Majesty Thai King at the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army, laid a wreath at the Phra Barami Pokklao Hall and signed the visitors' book.

The Vice-Senior General and Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army General Apirat Kongsompong held a meeting at the parlour.

Their discussions focused on enhancement of existing relations between the two countries, cooperation between the two armed forces of both countries in exchange of information to eradicate narcotic drugs, bilateral sending of medical experts to exchange technologies, practical cooperation in sharing experiences, and stability and security measures at boundary of both countries. After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General and the Thai Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army exchanged emblems.

The Vice-Senior General attended the clarification on staff affairs of the Office ofthe Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army and asked for further information.

In the evening, the Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by the Vice-Senior General was hosted a dinner by Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army General Apirat Kongsompong and senior officers of the Royal Thai Army at Conrad Hotel in Bangkok.

First, the Vice-Senior General and wife and delegation members were welcomed by the Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army and senior military officers. The Vice-Senior General and the Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army extended greetings and had the dinner together with those present. During the dinner, the military band of the Royal Thai Army performed dancing and singing entertainments. After the dinner, the Vice-Senior General exchanged gifts with the Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army. The bouquet and cash award were presented the entertainment troupe and they posed for documentary photo.
