Nay Pyi Taw January 24

The Myawady Daily reported the news on 21 January that AA terrorists had set a vehicle on fire and abducted the driver on Ann-Sittway Road near Meletmaung Village in Ann Township in Rakhine State on 20 January. According to Maung Wai Paing Moe, the driver who managed to escape from AA terrorists, it was learnt that he is a son of U Kyaw Moe from Hmawbi in Yangon and left Yangon for Sittway on 17 January in a Hyundai from Shwe Kant Kaw Transportation loaded with goods together with an assistant.

They had to stop the car at 18 miles and 4 furlong post at about 10 pm as the car was broken and repaired the failure. AA terrorists came to them at about 1.30 am on 20 January and asked them whether they were Myanmar or Rakhine forcing him to sit in the driver’s seat with the head facing downward. When he said he was Myanmar, they told themselves to set the driver on fire together with the car if he was Myanmar. He said that he managed to escape by jumping out of the car when his hands and legs were caught fire and that AA terrorists tried to abduct him by firing small weapons at him. After hiding himself in the jungle for a night to escape death, he ran off to the town of Ann and arrived at the local battalion at about 5.30 pm on 21 January. At that time, he was sustaining burns. With the help of security forces, he was sent to the Tatmadaw hospital in Ann for treatment.

He had been honestly working as a car driver on Yangon-Sittway route for about seven years. Likewise, AA terrorists blew up and incinerated a light truck on the road near Yaysoechaung Village in Yathedaung Township on 2 February 2019 and three six-wheeled trucks from Aung Thu Kha Transport on Yangon-Sittway Union Highway near Yotayok Village on 29 August. Moreover, the terrorists blew up and fired small weapons on a convey of six trucks carrying relief supplies from the International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) en route from Yangon to Maungtaw near Kyaukkyat Village, Kyauktaw Township on 27 June. AA terrorists are abducting and killing ordinary people and civil servants for no reason as well as harbouring racial discrimination. The man in hospital was visited by officials from the local battalion, and assistance is being provided for him.
