Helicopter falls back to ground due to mechanical faults while taking off after covering news about seized narcotic drugs, slightly injuring two pilots

Reporters from local and foreign media and military attachés this morning covered the news about narcotic drugs, items used in producing narcotic drugs and precursor materials worth more than Ks-93 billion seized at surrounding areas in Kaungkha Village, Lwekham Village and surrounding areas in, Kutkai Township in Shan State (North) during the period from 28 February to 4 March 2020, by Tatmadaw aircraft and helicopter.

In covering the news, the team of military attachés arrived at Kaungkha and Lwekham from Lashio and covered the news about the seized narcotic drugs. After covering the news, the team of military attachés left the scene by helicopter at about 3:40 pm. While taking off, the helicopter fell back due to mechanical faults. Despite the mechanical faults, the pilots were able to control the helicopter skillfully until it touched the ground with minimum injuries and damage.

In the accident, two pilots were slightly injured. Local and foreign reporters and military attachés were transported to Lashio by helicopter and they arrived back there at about 5:00 pm. Then, they were transported to Yangon by Tatmadaw aircraft and arrived back in Yangon safely at about 7:20 pm.
