Tatmadaw to use COBAS 6800 analyzers to test COVID-19 virus of about 1,400 persons per day

COBAS 6800 is the latest diagnostic machine manufactured by Switzerland-based Roche Diagnostics Co., Ltd. The United States of America and global countries are using the analyzers to test COVID-19 virus and have recognized quality of machines.
With regard to the advantage, as COBAS 6800 is equipped with fully automatic system, it can test samples of some 1,400 patients per day. Operators of the machine would have the least percentage of infection and can handle the machines to have the fastest rate, largest number and most correct results of tests.
The Tatmadaw installed one each of COBAS 6800 at No 1 Defence Services General Hospital (1000-bed) in Yangon and No 2 Defence Services General Hospital (1000-bed) in Nay Pyi Taw in 2019 so as to approve tests of various viruses.
Imported necessary reagents for testing the samples at COBAS 6800 machines have already arrived. Respective skillful experts and the experts from Medical Services joined hands in carrying out necessary installation of machine parts and prepara-tions for conducting the tests of COVID-19 virus. On 23 April 2020, they successfully conducted the test running. Now, the machine is ready to approve the test of COVID-19 virus.
As the Ministry of Health and Sports has a COBAS 6800 analyzer donated by AA Medical Products Ltd (Pacific-AA Foundation), machine parts are being installed in Yangon. Before and after the completion of installa-tion tasks, the Tatmadaw can help the ministry approve the tests of COVID-19 virus at COBAS 6800 analyzers from military hospitals in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw if necessary.
