Vice-Senior General Soe Win visits Submarine Great Wall 197 in Qingdao, beach of Qingdao, proceeds to Beijing

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army)Vice-Senior General Soe Win, currently in the People’s Republic of China, arrived at No 3 Pier of port in Qingdao at 9 am local standard time on 14 November where they were welcomed by Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Yang Su under the Northern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army, Commanding Officer Commander Tang Chunye and officials from Submarine Great Wall 197.

First, Commander Tang Chunye gave preliminary presentation on the submarine.They then observed inside the submarine where officials conducted them round the submarine.

Submarine Great Wall 197 is of Type-039(Song Class) which was commissioned into service at the People’s Liberation Army in 2002 to serve duties of military operations.

After viewing round there, they exchanged commemorative gifts.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Yang Su under the Northern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army and officials, arrived at Zhanqiao Pier which is one of cultural and historical sites in Qingdao, at 10.30 am local standard time on 14 November. They were welcomed by officials.

The Vice-Senior General and party visited along the pier and bridge museum where they were conducted round by officials.

Zhanqiao Pier, which is an iron frame pier, was built by German around 1897 when Qingdao fell under Germany. It was renovated by China in 1931 and officially inaugurated on 1 July 1933. The historical site is attractive to a large number of travellers.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation wandered along the beach of Qingdao and posed for documentary photos in front of the May 4 movement monument in Qingdao.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation left Qingdao by aircraft of the People’s Liberation Army at 3 pm local standard time on 14 November. The delegation was seen off at Liuting Airport in Qingdao by Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of Navy of the Northern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Rear Admiral Yang Su and officials.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation arrived in Beijing at 4.30 pm and was welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to PRC U Thit Lin Ohn, Chief of the International Military Cooperation Office of PLA Senior Colonel Liu Zhau Bing and officials.
