A guard-of-honour welcoming ceremony for General Apirat Kongsompong, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, who has arrived in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on a goodwill visit at the invitation of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief(Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, took place at Zeyathiri Beikman here this afternoon.
General Apirat Kongsompong arrived at Zeyathiri Beikman on a motorcade and was welcomed by Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
Vice-Senior General Soe Win and General Apirat Kongsompong took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it.
After taking the salute of the Guard of Honour, the two introduced senior military officers from both countries to each other.
Also present at the welcoming ceremony together with the Vice-Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.General Apirat Kongsompong was accompanied by commanders of the military areas of Royal Thai Armed Forces, senior military officers and the Thai Military Attaché (Army).
Afterwards, General Apirat Kongsompong, Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army signed the visitors’ book at Zeyathiri Beikman.
Then, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army)Vice-Senior General Soe Win and party met with the Thai delegation led by General Apirat Kongsompong and held discussions at the villa of Zeyathiri Beikman.
At the meeting, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and General Apirat Kongsompong cordially discussed cooperation in constantly strengthening long-lasting goodwill relations, exchange of information to crack down on narcotic drugs and chemicals used in producing narcotic drugs along the border, cooperation in fight against human trafficking,security cooperation between the two armies and cooperation in training.
After the meeting, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and General Apirat Kongsompong exchanged souvenirs and had a documentary group photo taken together with the members.
In the evening, Vice-Senior General Soe Win hosted dinner to the Thai delegation led by General Apirat Kongsompong at Aureum Place Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.
Before the dinner, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and General Apirat Kongsompong exchanged greetings and then enjoyed the dinner together with their members.
During the dinner, Myawady Music Band under the Directorate of Public Relation and Psychological Warfare entertained those present with songs and dances of the two countries.
After the dinner, the souvenirs were exchanged. Afterwards, the baskets of flowers were respectively given to male and female military performers from Myawady Music Band and then they posed for a documentary photo.
