AA terrorists ambush ships carrying iron beams, construction materials for Paletwa Bridge project
NAY PYI TAW November 22
AA terrorists opened fire in an ambush attack while ships were transporting iron beams and construction materials necessary for Paletwa Bridge project in the Kaladan River this morning.
In connection with the incident, three ships carrying those materials left Shwemingan Port in Sittway on the night of 21 November. When they arrived in the Kaladan River 4,000 meters north from Apaukwa Village in Kyauktaw Township this morning, the AA terrorists fired small and heavy weapons from Pauktaw Village to the east of the river and from Thaganet Village to west of the river. Military vessels flanking the ships returned fire forcing the terrorists to retreat. The coxswain’s room of a ship was damaged in a heavy weapon attack.
Similarly on 16 March this year, AA terrorists attacked a ship carrying construction materials with small weapons with intent to disrupt regional development tasks and the Paletwa Bridge project. They then set fire to the ship and took away the crew members. Following the latest attacks, Tatmadaw columns are doing security duties in and around the scene.
