A Tatmadaw press conference on terror acts of AA terrorists in Rakhine State, acts of ethnic armed organizations in breaking disciplines, progress of peace process, and preventive measures taken by the Tatmadaw against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) took place at Defence Services Museum,here, this afternoon.

The press conference was attended by Chairman of Tatmadaw True News Information Team Maj-Gen Soe Naing Oo, Vice Chairman Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi, Secretary Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), and 32 reporters from local news agencies, daily newspapers, journals, local TV broadcasting units and locally based foreign news agencies totalling 23. Before the press conference, officials from the Directorate of Medical Services of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) performed tests on the attendees for prevention of COVID-19 disease.

At the press conference, Maj- Gen Soe Naing Oo explained acts of ethnic armed organizations in breaking disciplines from 19 February to 19 March in 2020, seizures of arms, ammunition and related equipment, narcotic drugs and related equipment used in drug production worth more than Ks- 315 billion in Lwekham Village and surrounding areas in KutkaiTownship from 28 February to 16 March, procedures taken for the arrested persons and those who had fled from the scenes in accordance with the law, participation of the Tatmadaw in drug eradication tasks together with relevant organizations, and endeavours for peace process in 2020.

Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi clarified clashes in penetration of Tatmadaw reinforcement columns into AA terrorists in order to reinforce Meewa camp which was blocked by AA terrorists for more than 40 days, start of AA terrorists’ entering RakhineState and clashes with Tatmadaw columns till today, blowing up ofmines, synchronized attacks of AA with massive strengths on four police outposts in Buthidaung Township, heavy and small weapon attacks of AA terrorists taking position in the village on family housing of the police battalion headquarters in MraukU and local military battalion headquarters near Paungtok Village, disturbance firing of AA/ARSA terrorists with the use of massive strengths at Nyaungchaung region police station, seizures of narcotic drugs, arms and ammunition related to AA terrorists, and terror acts committed by AA/TNLA/MNDAA terrorists in PyinOoLwin, Nawnghkio and Hsenwi townships. AA terroristsnot only attacked security post on Yangon-Sittway Union Highway but also set vehicles of civilian travelling along the highway on fire.

AA terrorists abducted members of the Tatmadaw, the police, staff of Prisons Department and civilians. AAterrorists attacked ships transporting steel beams and construction materials for Paletwa Bridge project and set the ship on fire and fired rockets launched with electric shocks. AA terrorists abducted staff including staff from companies without sound reasons. AA terrorists fired at religious edifices without reasons, injuring local civilians. AA terroristsfired heavy weapon rounds, killinglocal residents. AA terrorists raped Bangali women. Afterwards, Maj- Gen Tun Tun Nyi explained that the objectives and movements of the AA terrorists were shattered by the efforts of the Tatmadaw.

Then, Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained the measures taken by Tatmadaw battalions and units for prevention of Coronavirus Disease 2019, donation of medicines and medical equipment by the Tatmadaw to China for the success in combating the virus, plans for containing the virus and cooperation between the Tatmadaw and civilian health authorities, donation of Chloroquines by the Tatmadaw to hospitals in border towns and sanitation works carried out by the Tatmadaw in hospitals and clinics in townships.
