Three men having links with AA terrorists arrested in Thayetoat Village, Kyauktaw Township

Disguised as civilians, AA terrorists mingling with village people are committing lawless acts such as attacking and blowing up convoys of Tatmadaw administrative vehicles and food and logistic supply ships and cutting off transportation routes.
Receiving the tipoff that AA terrorists were collecting extortion and making new recruits by living as local villagers in Thayetoat Village, Kyauktaw Township, Ra-khine State, security troops came to the village for surprised checks on 1 April morning. They then arrested U Aung San Hla, aged 56, son of U Thar Hla Aung, U Soe Shwe Maung, aged 52, son of U Maung NyoTun, and U Tin Tin Maung, aged 40, son of U Kyaw Zan Wai, who had links with AA terrorists, and seized rations, medicines, foods donated by NGOs for displaced people, wires used in detonating bombs, detonators and other goods stockpiled by AA.
According to the arrestees’ statements after interrogation, the AA terrorists arrived in the village in October 2018 with intent to mobilize the village people. They collected a basket of rice, Ks-2,000, 3,000 or 5,000 monthly from a household. The extortions had to be sent to the home of U Kyaw Gyi (a) U Kyaw Tint living in the village. He then sent those extortions to the terrorists by motorboat and trailer. AA terrorists frequently went in and out of the village. Their meetings were usually held at U Kyaw Thein Chay’s house. U Kyaw Gyi, U San Tin, U Hla Shwe Thein, U Kyaw Thein Chay and U Win Hlaing living in the village got involved in AA terrorists’ attempt to recruit members, carrying out necessary administrative duties, reporting movements of security troops in Kyauktaw Township and planting mines. About 15 villagers joined AA.
The arrested persons, who have connection with AA terrorists, are now detained at Sittway Myoma Police Station, and legal action has been taken against them. Kyauktaw Myoma Police Station has filed charges against U Kyaw Gyi (a) U Kyaw Tint and U Kyaw Thein Chay, who are at large.
Security forces who returned to Kyauktaw after making surprise checks at Thayetoat Village were attacked by AA terrorists by four remote mines on both sides of the road at a place 500 metres south of Kyauktaw at about 5.30 pm. When the security forces left the place, they had an engagement with AA terrorists who attacked with small and heavy arms at the site 200 metres south of Kyauktaw. At the same time, Naval vessels taking security measures on Kaladan River in the east of Kyauktaw were attacked by AA terrorists from the building on the bank with small arms and heavy weapon at the place about 200 metres east of Kyauktaw.
During the incidents, some of the security members were wounded and vehicles were slightly damaged. The Tatmadaw continues its area security duties in cooperation with the residents for peace, stability, the rule of law in Rakhine State and preventing the terrorist attacks of AA terrorist in the state.
