Medical supplies donated by People’s Liberation Army of China for COVID-19 prevention and control arrive

A special plane carrying medical supplies donated by the People’s Liberation Army of China to be used wherever necessary for the prevention, control and treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) arrived at Yangon International Airport from the People’s Republic of China this morning. The flight was welcomed by Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Thet Pon, officials from the Tatmadaw medical services, Ambassador of the PRC to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, Military Attaché Senior Colonel Xiong Shaowei and offi-cials.
The medical supplies which arrived by special flight are 10,000 COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Test Kits (PCR), 20,000 Type-KN95 medical surgical masks, 500,000 medical surgical masks, 200 medical googles, 10,000 pairs of medical gloves, 10,000 surgical caps, 20,000 medical shoe covers, 10,000 protective suits, 200 infrared forehead thermometers and 2,000 bottles of wash-free hand gel sanitizer. On behalf of the PLA, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai and Military Attaché Senior Colonel Xiong Shaowei handed over the medical supplies together with related documents to Commander Maj-Gen Thet Pon and officials.
Also on board the plane were six experts from the PRC led by Dr. Bai Chong. They will be staying in Myanmar for two weeks to discuss and exchange views on COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment with medical experts from Myanmar’s Tatmadaw.
