Supplies for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment,foodstuffs provided for Wa Self-Administered Division
The Tatmadaw is making collaborative and energetic efforts for Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) prevention, control and treatment such as sending military medical crops to military command areas for performing medical checkups, spraying disinfectants and donating medical equipment to people’s hospitals.
This afternoon, Commander of North-East Command Maj-Gen Aung Zaw Aye and party handed over medical supplies donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) at the office of Women’s Affairs Federation in Pangsang for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures in Wa Self-Administered Division. They were welcomed there by Vice Chairman of UWSA (Wa) Group U Shauk Milyan and party.
After explaining the purpose of donating the medical supplies, the Commander presented 40,000 surgical masks, 2,000 N95 masks, 500 face shields, 10 boxes of bleaching powder, 1,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE), 1,000 pairs of surgical gloves, 150 bottles of hand gel and 150 bottles of hand sanitizer to U Shauk Milyan, who in turn presented a certificate of honour and spoke words of thanks.
Expressing thanks, U Shauk Milyan said Wa region and the Tatmadaw have been forging relations for over 30 years. Mutual help has been provided and will continue. Tatmadaw is also urged to provide assistance for Wa nationals pursuing education and working in inland areas of Myanmar. Sincere thanks go to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) for such donations. UWSA (Wa) Group Chairman U Pauk Yo Chan, on behalf of Wa nationals, also conveyed his thanks to the Tatmadaw for donating medical supplies for COVID-19. The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services is invited to Wa region at a suitable time for his guidance, he said.
The Commander and party visited the headquarters of UWSA (Wa) Group in Pangsang, met with a group led by Vice Chairman U Shauk Milyan and U Kyauk Kaw An and presented gift foods given by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
Since 12 May, medical crops from the Tatmadaw including specialists, medical officers and nurses have been taking COVID-19 preventive, control and treatment measures for UWSA (Wa) troops and their families and local people in Wanhon, Hsihok, Mongyun, Hopang, Hoywet, Hwe-aw and Monekyut of Mongsat Township in Shan State (East).
