TNLA insurgent group ambushes Tatmadaw administrative convoy near Kutkai
Nay Pyi Taw May 29
A Tatmadaw administrative convoy driving from Namphatka to Kutkai along Muse-Lashio Union Highway was ambushed by about 80 members of TNLA insurgent group at a place, about 1,500 metres north of Namkut Village before Kutkai at about 10.30 am today.
In the incident, some officer/other ranks from the Tatmadaw were injured and a vehicle damaged. Tatmadaw columns are in a hot pursuit of those TNLA insurgents.
TNLA insurgents fired a hotel under construction by Pansay People’s Militia (Local) Group in Swamsaw Ward in Muse in the evening of 23 April with the use of 40mm grenade launcher because the group did not give extortion to them. Moreover, the insurgents intentionally fired launchers beyond the border. As such, both governments and armed forces friendly solved the issue.
Now is the period when the Tatmadaw declared a statement on ceasefire in the areas from 10 May to 31 August 2020 except the areas where terrorist groups station to be able to promptly carry out effective prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 in Myanmar on a wider scale.
The Tatmadaw is effectively par-ticipating in the tasks of prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 while donating medical supplies to people’s hospitals, station hospitals and rural health centres across the nation as well as ethnic armed organizations and ethnic people and performing disease control and medical protection.
On 26 May, medical equipment for prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 were donated to ethnic people in Palaung Self-Administered Zone in Namsang. On 29 May today, medical supplies were donated to Mantung People’s Hospital in Palaung Self-Admini-stered Zone.
A three-group combined force of TNLA, MNDAA and AA terro-rists declared a one-sided ceasefire statement on 3 May 2020. No matter how the statement they declared, they ambushed the Tatmadaw convoy by taking privilege of the Tatmadaw’s ceasefire for carrying out prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19.
During the period of nine months from 21 December 2018 to 21 September 2019 when Tatmadaw announced a ceasefire, TNLA, MNDAA and AA terrorists committed acts of terrorism such as firing weapons at a training school in PyinOoLwin in August 2019, attacking PyinOoLwin and Nawn-ghkio anti drug police outposts, killing police, incinerating buildings and vehicles, destroying important Goktwin Bridge on Mandalay-Muse Union Highway and and bridges on Hsenwi-Kunlong Road, burning civilian vehicles on Lashio-Muse Union Highway and collecting extortions.
In the whole 2019 including the nine-month ceasefire period, the North-East Command area saw 152 engagements with TNLA insurgent, 56 engagements with a combined force of TNLA, MNDAA and AA, 11 engagements with a combined force of KIA and TNLA, 330 invasion attempts by TNLA insurgent, 14-time collection of extortion and two attempts to recruit members.
Without having any desire for peace, TNLA, MNDAA and AA terrorists repeatedly violated the rules and laws and committed terrorist acts by taking advantage of the ceasefire. For TNLA terro-rist’s ambush of an administrative convoy of the Tatmadaw today, Tatmadaw will be exposing and crushing them.
