Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets officers, other ranks and their families from Mongton, Monghsat stations

Nay Pyi Taw  November  17

With the full responsibility for national defence and security and protection of public lives and property, Tatmadaw members try to stay fit, healthy and strong. Good discipline and dutifulness are the work of a good soldier and they must always try to be equipped with such characteristics. Way of living and behaviour must be typical of being a soldier. They must always try to improve their defence capa-bility. They must try to achieve success through hard work and self control, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at separate meetings with officers, other ranks and their families from Mongton and Monghsat stations of Triangle Region Command today.

The meetings were also attended by senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Triangle Region Command Commander Maj-Gen Khin Hlaing.

Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General remarked that commodity prices were high in Monghsat due to poor transport and commodity flow restrictions. He expressed his delight at seeing the socio-economy and living standard of the local people improve far better than in the past. He urged the local populace to try to improve their economy by only engaging in legitimate businesses.

He said the Tatmadaw is striving for ensuring eternal peace for a better future of the State. It is well on the road to the NCA. The Tatmadaw is also protecting the public lives and property as well as giving help to resolve their difficulties. Preparedness measures have been taken even before the COVID-19 outbreak in Myanmar as it is the global pandemic causing impact on people. Currently, the infection rate is increasing and there are fewer cases within the Tatmadaw thanks to the precautionary measures and strict restrictions.

Meanwhile, the Senior General said various means were sought for their convenience in living conditions such as meals and shelter. They need to live in discipline and take care to avoid infection. They need to take sports and regular physical exercise as they will be able to shoulder defence duties , training and public welfare tasks only when they are fit and strong. In the meantime, they must do their regular duties. For their good health, individuals must watch the way they eat and drink. Smoking, drinking and chewing betel quid should be avoided. Those who are able to control themselves and live in discipline and dutifulness are good men and good soldiers. The Senior General then stressed the need to follow the four good ethics—only going to suitable places without indulging themselves or their subordinates, making friends with those who should be, doing the things that should be done and saying what should be said.

The Tatmadaw is taking all-round measures not only to enhance its defence capabilities but also to promote the welfare and entitlements of personnel and families to the full extent. The Tatmadaw always promotes the education of personnel and families by offering scholarships to outstanding students. As the Tatmadaw is promoting the edu-cation of offspring of personnel and families to enable them to stand on their own feet, it is necessary for personnel and families to encourage education and urge them to exert efforts. In addition to promoting the education of the offspring, servicemen are required to read books and journals on literature and knowledge for intellectual development. Reading books can contribute a lot to the progress of lives. Although many in the publishing industry have suspended their operations due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Tatmadaw has continued to publish its newspapers, journals, magazines and books on literature and knowledge for officers, other ranks and families so that they may not lag behind others in intellectual development.

As servicemen of the Tatmadaw are born of the people and come from different parts of the country before meeting together in the Tatmadaw to perform duties, unity is essential. Although differences must be ironed out through mutual understanding as different people have different mental natures, it is necessary for servicemen to maintain mutual respects between the superior and inferior personnel, who are required to protect the lives of each other by risking one’s own life on battlefields, in accordance with the concept of interdependence. To be a unified Tatmadaw, officers, other ranks and families are required to live in unison. Leaders are required to lead the respective units they are responsible for through fair treatment so that the units are always united. As servicemen are required to be loyal to one’s organization and the country, it is necessary for all to exert efforts together for the betterment of individual personnel, individual units and the country. Then, the Senior General cordially discussed the needs of the officers, other ranks and families from the stations and fulfilled their needs.

Afterward, the Senior General presented foodstuffs and household goods produced by factories of the Tatmadaw for officers, other ranks and families from Mongton and Monghsat stations to respective station commanders.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected round regiments and units in Mongton and Monghsat stations by car.
